Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance on me

This is the first of a blog series about what it’s like to be a part of the Hable team from a personal perspective.

I recently read something that I can’t get out of my head; make the choice that makes you proud. And I’m pleased to say, in terms of my career, I’m living by it (most of the time. Some of the time I’ve taken an extra break because the toddler kept me up all night and I’ve lost the ability to string a sentence together).

I’m also doing everything I can to make #TeamHable proud.  Why? I’ll tell you, but first some background.

The background

I am a mother of two beautiful boys, wife to a supportive husband and until recently a secondary school teacher.  I was unhappy in my job due to the lack of work life balance and after a push from my husband I handed in my notice with nothing else in the pipe line.  Eeek!

I was recommended to Mark (founder and CEO, Hable) who then, after a chat with myself and some feedback from two of his most valued consultants, gave me the opportunity to work for Hable as an Office 365 training consultant (I’ve since learnt from experience that all of Team Hable is valued).  This is where the ‘why I’m motivated’ comes in.  It was a huge gesture because, although I’m a strong presenter I didn’t necessarily tick all the other essential requirements of the role.

Between my introduction to Hable and my offer of work I willingly spent every free minute learning about Hable, the other consultants at Hable and set to work watching every available tutorial on Office 365 (this involved some extensive stalking on LinkedIn sorry guys!). I completed numerous activities on Microsoft Educator Community and created a fictitious Teams account, so I could ‘practice’.  All after the kids had gone to bed but not because I had to, because I wanted to. To prove Hable had made the right decision in inviting me into #TeamHable.

One month on…

I’m now coming to the end of my first month at Hable and I love it.  I’ve learnt so much, feel valued, appreciated and a real part of the team. It’s the inclusive culture that’s made me want to give back and I’ve grown so much in confidence that I’m now studying for my first MOS exam. And I don’t need to wait until I get home, I can study on the commute as all my resources are in the cloud thanks to Office 365.

The cultre of work that Hable promotes is a thing of dreams. If only there were more like us. Go #TeamHable!

If you’re thinking of taking the plunge and doing something new feel free to drop me a message at schampaneria@hable.co.uk and I’ll gladly share my experience
