Become a Microsoft Innovative Educator with #TeamHable

The Microsoft Innovative Educator status recognises educators who are using technology for better learning and student outcomes. The MIE programme is for passionate educators who are constantly learning, growing and working together to change students lives and build a better world. If you’d like to connect with a global, professional community of educators, who are constantly pushing the boundaries of what a classroom looks and feels like, then the MIE community may just be for you! Being part of this community also unlocks access to an array of free online training courses and events. It is also the beginning of a journey to becoming a Microsoft Innovative Educator expert!

Who is an MIE Expert?

MIE Experts are educators who are passionate about their careers, inspiring students with out-of-the-box thinking and a collaborative spirit. Resourceful and entrepreneurial, MIE experts embody the role of change agents and work to achieve excellence in education using new technologies and social media.

We spoke to a few MIE experts from across the country to get their insights on how being an MIE Expert has enhanced their careers..

“I started my MIE journey 9 years ago. It gave me confidence in the use of technology in my class and enabled me to connect with like-minded teachers across the world. Then I applied to be an MIE Expert….that’s when my passion was ignited. It provides me with support, skills, knowledge and community.”

Sarah Clarke, Teacher, #MIEExpert & Trainer

“Being an MIE Expert is like being part of the bigger picture, part of a network of like-minded professionals who all want to help and support in any way they can. Being an MIE Expert means you are part of the best continuing professional development available. No one judges, everyone supports and encourages.

Becoming an MIE Expert has provided me with some of the best CPD in my 22 years as a class teacher, it’s relevant and inspiring.”

Mrs Crerar, Teacher & MIE Expert

“Applying for and becoming an MIE Expert has been one of the highlights of my teaching career. Through it I have grown professionally and personally and been provided opportunities I never thought I’d received. Being part of this community, I have found myself surrounded by like-minded educators from across the world, with opportunities to collaborate and support each other. Most importantly, I have also made some amazing friends.

If you are a teacher using Microsoft products to make a difference in the classroom and are sitting there thinking “I’m not good enough to be a MIE Expert”, I’m telling you that you are – I was the teacher who thought that. There is an amazing global community here waiting for you, and one which will be richer for having you as part of it.”

Paul Watkins, Teacher & MIE Expert
