We are proud to announce a new partnership with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) that will see Hable deliver a Comms & Training programme to over 3000 staff across the UK.
Formerly known as the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), the Ministry for Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) aims to create great places to live and work, and to give more power to local people to shape what happens in their area. It is a ministerial department, supported by 12 agencies and public bodies. They have around 3000 staff in total, around half of which are based at the Home Office buildings in London and half are based across 20 regional offices spanning the whole of the UK, from Truro to Newcastle!
They are just embarking on the “Better Ways of Working” initiative, part of which is an IT Modernisation Programme – led by CTO Steve O’Connor.
“Our goal is to deliver consistently excellent services that support the shaping of our department to meet the changing needs of our people”
– Steve O’Connor (CTO, MHCLG)
The key technology changes in the IT Modernisation part of the programme are:
- All staff will be given a Microsoft Surface Laptop or Surface Pro
- Email, documents & collaboration tools will be provided by Office 365
- Comms & telephony will be provided by Microsoft Teams
Hable will help MHCLG staff get familiar with the new technology environment, but we know that it’s good communication and change management that is key to the success of these projects. To be truly effective, people need to collaborate in a more productive manner with one another, the Arms Lengths Bodies (ALBs), and hundreds of other public and private organisations. When we first met the team at MHCLG, they were ready to embark on a major business change programme, and we are thrilled that are the organisation they have trusted to help them make the change.
“This is a large and exciting project, that further improves Hable’s position within the Central Government sector – following previous projects with Ofsted and the Houses of Parliament. What’s different about MHCLG is the sheer volume of staff who are all getting a new device being moved onto Office 365 within a short space of time. The whole organisation will have to change and adopt these Better Ways of Working very quickly – but once they do, MHCLG staff will be set up for the future and ready to carry out their vital work: creating great places to live and work, right across the UK.
